Aarni Jäske

Came into the world June 16th, 1951 embraced by the warmth of a sauna in Kurikka, Finland.

My parents owned a fur hat factory, with which I was involved since I was a small boy. It was there that I developed a good eye for colour and I learned composition and design. I acquired professional skills in the furrier trade. I graduated as a sheet metal worker and a body repair shop technician. In everything I have done, a creative, artistic touch has been present, a gift that I was blessed with at birth.

I married Kaija in 1979. We have four children: Satu (b. 1979), Niko (b. 1981 and passed away at the age of 4½ months from SIDS), Mikael (b. 1982) and Jenna (b. 1984). At this point in time, I was involved in sales and I produced ornaments and mascot items that I had designed myself. I ended up having to have a gallstone operation, which then went wrong and led to me being placed on disability pension.

Now I have time to fulfill my dreams to create art and to hopefully provide experiences for others. I like nature and animals, so my works often use these as their inspiration.

What I have learned during my lifetime has made it possible for me to create my works of art through welding using stainless steel. The subjects they depict, however, can touch on almost anything. I love challenges as they intrigue and inspire me.

Fondly,
